The purpose of the mood board was to pull out colors from a professional add to see why the artist chose those colors and see how they work with each other. Then we had to pull from our own graphic and see what colors we chose matched, and how some of the colors could be modified to create a unified color scheme.
The Guitar Hero artist chose very explosive bold colors. The deep red on the outside of the cover sets a background that allows the large title and graphics to pop of the page. The bright yellow and almost white yellow contrast the red and the dark grey characters, emphasizing the energy of the game.
In my own game I have many variations of the color blue. The mountain is a blue/ blue-purple color that contrasts the forest green color of the trees. The white color is the snow which is a neutral color that makes the other colors in my scheme pop off the page.
The obstacles use many warning colors. Variations of red and yellow work well with each other, as well as the light tan color of the polar bear. The light tan is my neutral color in this case. The green is the same forest green of the trees in the environment.
The ski options have very bright colors. These colors may not follow the color of the game because they are used to customize the character. I wanted to go with very bright colors of blue, green, and yellow because they are variations of the colors that exist in the game without blending into or being the same as those colors.
The safety objects are very closely colored to the obstacle colors because they go hand in hand. The only color I am thinking about changing is the lightning bolt because it does not mix with the reds and yellows of the other colors. I would change the lightning bolt color to a blue/green that way it is not exactly the same as the green and blue in the environment or the skier options, but still matches the colors of the game.
