The concept for this game is a ski race that involves obstacles, not opponents. As the character unlocks trails points are earned and new obstacles come up as the levels get harder. When the character earns a certain number of points they can go into the ski lodge and by equipment and other items that will help improve their game.
The game takes place during the day on a mountain with marked trails. The more trails completed the more trails that get unlocked. As the trails advance from beginner to advanced level they become more crowed with obstacles and trees that need to be avoided. If the character hits a tree or is caught by an obstacle then the character is restarted to the beginning of the level. The character can re-play completed levels to earn extra points and unlock equipment and items in the ski lodge located at the bottom of the mountain.
The characters in this game can be either male or female. As the character unlocks levels and earns points they can go into the ski lodge and change clothing, ski's and head gear. As the better gear is unlocked it improves the characters ability to turn and speed, both of which will aide in escaping and avoiding obstacles.

The beginner obstacles are stationary trees that are scattered around. The beginner level also includes a rolling snowball. The intermediate level includes more trees, the rolling snowball and the attaching polar bears. The advanced level includes heavily clustered trees with the rolling snowball, the attacking polar bear and ski patrol. Safety items will be scattered along the trail or up in a tree. The character has to collect the item and throw it at the obstacle in order to escape.
The safety items are a fish, safety kit, and lightning bolt. The fish is used to throw at the polar bear to escape, the safety kit is used to throw at the ski patrol to escape, and the lightning bolt is used to gain speed to escape the rolling snow ball. Once the item is collected it must be thrown at the obstacle in order to escape. If this is not complete the character will be reset to the beginning of the level.

I really like how you are up against obstacles rather than opponents! I like how customized the game is with designing your own character and apparel. This would be a really awesome game to play. Great work!!
ReplyDeleteI already talked with you about this project last week so you know most of my major comments. Very strong research phase on all points. you are definitely getting a stronger handle of photoshop from seeing your final deliverables. Again careful with overdoing strong visual elements. You have all the major elements together in your final images to get a completed composition but their strengths are conflicting with each other and making the composition too busy and hard to read. Again subtlety is the name of the game. This is definitely a step in the right direction compared to the last final project. You need to step back from your final images and examine them. Figure out what your are trying to convey and then examine each visual element and see what it is conveying. Then rebuild each visual element that is not reinforcing the main themes. So your environment and skier images are laid out very similar. Both have very noisy borders that can be refined, the borders are almost at the point of reinforcing the main composition but just need to be tweaked and you will see a big improvement in your images. Then the safety objects and obstacles are very similar and both suffer from the same issues. The graphical elements on the outside just need to be reworked to reinforce the main composition and you will see a big improvement. All in all its a great job for your level but with some extra effort it can be a really solid design piece.
