W02 Final Project

The process of researching which design and look I wanted my page to have led me to the conclusion that I wanted something fun and colorful. I also wanted some level of organization and symmetry to give the page to a simple and clean look. I choose bright fun colors for the words Rock, Paper, Scissors to draw the eye to the main focus of the page, which is what it is actually created for. The description and rules sections were separated on a diagonal , which helps the eye follow the description section directly down to the rules section without have a long mass of text in one area. I used the same two colors to show a connection between the two bodies of text to produce a fun but clean look. The rules graphic I chose was detailed enough without having to use a realistic looking graphic. It was intentionally placed above the rules text so the viewer of the page could read and see the rules without having to look around the page for a visual representation. The graphic parallel to the rules graphic is the only dark component of the page. However, I chose the graphic because the elements of the game are animated continuing the fun, non-realistic look I wanted my page to have. Putting all of these elements together I decided to deviate from my original plan and not include a boarder because I thought that the page would be more effective if left clean without adding too many components that can take away from the central focus of the page.

  1. Research phase was done correctly. You put solid thought into your thumbnails, reference and ideas. Your final deliverable was a good execution from your research along with proper written insight into the process. Flipping the color scheme on the rules and description sections was definitely a fun addition to the design but needs to be tightened up more. It looks like the Rules title font and the Description title font are different. Your changes in font type, and color in relation to your main header and graphics are a bit distracting. You are going in the right direction but usually subtle effects add up nicely together in a composition. This is a common issue for learning design and can be easily corrected going forward. I would think about some type of background color or faded image, which would also help tie together those two graphics with the rest of the layout. Again really well done...just needs some revision to make it a consistent composition.
